Description : Tree, 8–25 m high; bark grey to greyish-brown; young parts greyish-brown tomentose, soon glabrous or puberulous. Leaves bipinnate; petioles 4.5–11 cm; leaflets 3–5 pairs, ovate or elliptic, 2–8.5 by 1.2—3.2 cm, apex long acuminate or caudate, base oblique, chartaceous, olive green, upper surfaces puberulous, lower surface densely velvety tomentose, lateral nerves 6–9 per side, inconspicuous on the upper surface, without intramarginal vein; petiolules 1–2 mm long. Inflorescences usually terminal panicles; bracts linear, acute, ciliate; flowers buds obovate. Flowers 4, pedicels 6 mm long, glabrescent or pubescent; calyx lobes ovate, 1 mm long, acute, puberulous; petals elliptic, 4 mm long, glabrous; stamens 10, filaments flattened at base; disc thick, lobed, papillose. Drupes oblong or ovate, 4.5 by 3.5 cm, glabrous, greenish-yellow, 5-locular; endocarp large with thin flesh, massive labyrinthine endocarp.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Nakon Sawan (Khao Ngo, Khao Sang); EASTERN: Nakhon Ratchasima (Khao Lang Chang, Khao Phaeng Ma, Pak Chong); SOUTH-WESTERN: Kanchanaburi (Khao Salop), Ratchaburi (type: Marcan 1732 -K); CENTRAL: Lop Buri, Saraburi.


Distribution : Endemic.


Ecology : Common on rocky limestone hills, open dry evergreen forests, 50–300 m alt.


Vernacular : Kok-kak (กอกกัก)(Nakhon Sawan); ma-kok pa (มะกอกป่า)(Nakhon Ratchasima, Kanchanaburi); ma kak (มะกัก), mak kak (หมักกัก)(Saraburi, Ratchaburi).
