Description : Tree, up to 40 m high; bark grey, fissured and scaly. Leaves obovate or oblanceolate, 5–17 by 2–5 cm, apex obtuse or rounded, base cuneate; thickly coriaceous, lateral nerves 10–23 per side, venation reticulate, obscure on both surfaces; petioles 2.5–7 cm long, flattened, swollen at base. Panicle terminal and also in apical leaf axils, puberulous. Flowers deep violet; calyx 5-lobed, pubescent outside; petals 5, oblanceolate or oblong, without ridges on the inner surfaces; disc cushion-shaped; ovary oboviod, glabrous; stamens 10, 5 fertile, filaments united at base. Drupes pyriform, 6 cm by 4–8 cm, pale dull green or greyish turning brownish; flesh thin, dirty white to dirty pink, sour and stringy.

Distribution : Peninsular Malaysia (Malacca – type), Sumatra.
Ecology : Lowland forests, up to 150 m alt.
Vernacular : Mamuang pom (มะม่วงป้อม)(Central).
