Description : Trees, up to 50 m tall. Leaves subcoriaceous, often elliptic, sometimes ovate, rarely obovate, 8–25 by 4–10 cm; base obtuse to rounded, sometimes cuneate, usually subpeltate; apex acute, sometimes acuminate; nerves 6–12 per side; petiole 1.5–2.5 cm long. Inflorescences paniculate, to 12 cm long, sometimes branched from near the base; peduncle obscure, sometimes to 7 cm long, pedicels 5–9 mm long. Flowers 10–13 mm in diam.; buds short conical or subglobose, higher than wide or sometimes as high as wide. Calyx lobes triangular, short cililate. Petals yellow, broadly ovate or suborbiculate, 3–6 mm long and wide, appendages on the inner surface lamellate or fimbriate. Disk often disc-shaped, ca 5 mm in diam., smooth?, usually 5-lobed. Stamens to 4 mm long. Ovary with 12–18 ovules in each of the 3 locules. Fruits oblong, 10–15 by 3–5.5 cm. Seeds oblong, 6.5–7.5 by 1.8–2.5 cm (incl. wing); seed proper oblong, flat, ca 5 by 1 cm.
Thailand : CENTRAL: Nakhon Nayok (Khao Yai NP); SOUTH-EASTERN: Trat (Dong Ma Duea); PENINSULAR: Phangnga (Nang Yon), Trang (Khao Chong).
Distribution : India (type), Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Malesia (Malay Peninsula, Borneo, Sumatra, Bangka).
Ecology : Evergreen forests, from near sea level to 780 m alt. Flowering: January–June; fruiting: June.
Vernacular : Man pu (มันปู)(Peninsular).
