Description : Shrub, 1–2 m high, stellate hairy on all parts. Leaves ovate, 2.5–10 x 1.5–6 cm, coriaceous, scabrous on upper surface, pale and softly hairy on lower surface, apex acute, base obtuşe, entire or slightly serrate; 3 basal nerves, secondary nerves 3–4 pairs, scalariform veins hardly distinct on lower surface. Petiole up to 1 cm long, hairy. Inflorescence axillary, ovoid in bud, shortly pedunculate, hairy. Calyx campanulate, with 5 unequal lobes, hairy outside. Petals purplish, with 2 forms, lanceolate and spathulate, 8–10 mm long, acuminate or retuse; claw with sub-opposite appendages. Stamens 10, on a slender, glabrous column, sharply angular toward the top. Ovary ovoid, surrounded by the ring of stamens, hairy, 5-longitudinally lobed; stigma with 5 slender teeth. Capsule short cylindrical, 1.2–2 x 0.7–1.3 cm, covered with shaggy hairs.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Lampang, Nakhon Sawan; NORTH-EASTERN: Kalasin; EASTERN: Nakhon Ratchasima; SOUTH-WESTERN: Kanchanaburi (type: Binnedyck s.n. -K), Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan.


Distribution : Burma, S China, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia.


Ecology : Scattered in mixed deciduous forests, 30–200 m alt. Flowering and fruiting: July–December.


Vernacular : Po kra chao khao (ปอกระเจาขาว)(Northern, Northeastern); khi maeo (ขี้แมว)(Northeastern); khi tun (ขี้ตุ่น)(Eastern); khi on (ขี้อ้น), po khieng (ปอเขียง)(Southwestern).
