Accepted Name : This is currently accepted.


Description : Rhizomes and erect stems with turions; subterranean turions appearing as tubers, cream-brown, surface smooth; turion from erect stems olive-green, covered with short, stiff scales. Leaves 8–15(–20) by 1.2–4 mm, serrulate. Inflorescence with spathe of 2 united bracts. Flowers solitary in a spathe; staminate pedicels ca 0.5 mm long; carpellate flowers with hypanthium 10–50 mm long; ovary unilocular.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai; SOUTH-WESTERN: Ratchaburi.


Distribution : As the genus (type from India).


Ecology : Fresh or brackish waters of lakes, streams, rivers, bayous, rice fields, swamp, up to 2,000 m alt.


Vernacular : Phak khi tao (ผักขี้เต่า)(Nakhon Ratchasima); sarai hang krarok (สาหร่ายหางกระรอก)(Central).
