Description : Climber or trailing shrub. Leaves: petiole 3-11 mm long; blade papery or subcoriaceous, elliptic to obovate, 3.1–12.6 x 1.6–4.7 cm, apex acuminate, base cuneate or decurrent onto petiole; 5–7 pairs of veins anastomosing before margin. Inflorescence 9–23 cm long; 2–25 flowered; bracts linear, 5–14.5 x 1–2 mm, pubescent. Sepals pubescent, ciliate; linear, 6.8–17.7 mm long. Corolla white or pale yellow with maroon or purplish parts; tube 9.5–19 mm widening at 5.3–8 mm; lobes 2.4–6.5 cm, drawn out into narrow tails; corona lobes narrowly triangular 4.2–6 mm long. Stamens inserted at 7.3–8 mm from corolla base; anthers narrowly triangular, 1–1.4 cm long of which acumen 7.5–11 mm. Ovary 1.4–2.3 mm, minutely pubescent; style + pistil head 6.5–7.5 mm long. Fruit tapering to an obtuse apex; 11–24.5 cm long, 2.5 cm wide; densely lenticellate. Seeds 10–18 x 3–4.3 mm; glabrous; beak glabrous for 0.8–1.5 cm and bearing a coma for 1.4–2.6 cm, coma 5.5–9 cm long.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Mai; NORTH-EASTERN: Phetchaburi; SOUTH-WESTERN: Prachuap Khiri Khan; SOUTH-EASTERN: Trat; PENINSULAR: Chumphon, Ranong, Phuket, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Satun, Pattani.


Distribution : China, India, Bangladesh (type), Burma, Laos, Vietnam, Malay Peninsula.


Ecology : In mixed deciduous or evergreen forests to 550 m alt.


Vernacular : Yan yang luang (ย่ายางหลวง)(Peninsular).
