Description : Shrub or small tree. Branchlets glabrous, often angled. Leaves: petiole 0.5–1 cm long; blade papery, elliptic, obovate or oblanceolate, 3.1–30.5 x 1–10.4 cm, apex acuminate, rarely to obtuse, base cuneate; secondary veins 9–18 pairs, arcuate ascending; glabrous. Inflorescence in a terminal whorl; delicate, lax; 2.2–12.4 cm long, peduncle 0–10 cm long; glabrous; pedicels 3.5–7.5 mm long Sepals ovate or lanceolate, 1.4–2.4 x 0.5–1 mm, apex acute to acuminate; glabrous, minutely ciliate or not. Corolla white or white and reddish; tube 9.3–18 mm long; lobes 2–4 mm long; glabrous outside, pubescent in mouth and inside to just beneath stamens. Stamens inserted at 5–10.4 mm from base; filaments 0.5–0.8 mm long; anthers 1.2–1.5 x 0.5–0.6 mm. Disk 0.4–1.1 mm long. Ovary 1.1–1.8 mm long, carpels completely free up to the single style; style + pistil head 4–9.5 mm long. Fruits paired, free from each other, or solitary; ovoid; 8.3–14 mm long, 4.5–5.5 mm wide. Seeds 7.5–7.6 x 3.6–4.3 mm.

Distribution : Sri Lanka, India, Bhutan, Burma, China, Vietnam (type), Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines.
Ecology : In or on the edge of evergreen or deciduous forests to 1,600 m alt.
Vernacular : Chaek (แฉก)(Trang); chipuk (จี้ปุก)(Northern); phut noi (พุดน้อย)(Lampang); ya kae rhak khom (ยาแก้ฮากขม)(Chiang Mai).
