Description : Tree to 10 m. Branchlets glabrous; densely lenticellate when older. Leaves: petiole 0.7–2.8 cm long; blade coriaceous, elliptic, 4.5–21 x 2.1–6.4 cm, shortly acuminate, base cuneate; secondary veins 24–30 pairs, + straight, anastomosing into an intramarginal nerve; glabrous. Inflorescence in a whorl; robust, lax; (8–)15.4–21 cm long, peduncle 11–14.5 cm long; glabrous; pedicels 6.5–8 mm long. Sepals ovate, 1.5–1.7 x 1.2–2.2 mm, apex obtuse; glabrous. Corolla tube 4–4.5 mm long; lobes 1.5–1.8 mm long; glabrous outside, pubescent inside to just beneath stamens. Stamens inserted at ca 2.8 mm from base; filaments. 0.5 mm long; anthers 0.7–1 x 0.5 mm. Disk 0.2–0.5 mm long. Ovary 0.8–1.2 mm long; syncarpous, bilocular; style + pistil head ca 1.8 mm long. Fruit of 2 hard separate endocarps surrounded by a single fleshy mesocarp; globose or indented on top; 9–24 mm diameter. Seeds 7.7–8.5 x 2–3.5 mm.
Thailand : CENTRAL: Saraburi; PENINSULAR: Chumphon, Phuket, Krabi.
Distribution : Malaysia, Indonesia (type from Sumatra), the Philippines. Cultivated elsewhere.
Ecology : In evergreen forests or scrub to 370 m alt.
Vernacular : Ra yom tinpet (ระย่อมตีนเป็ด)(Bangkok).
