Description : Dioecious shrub or small tree; branchlets slender, 2–2.5 mm thick measured at 10 cm behind the apex. Leaves subcoriaceous; petiole ca 5 mm; lamina oblong to oblong-lanceolate 4–9 by 2–3.5 cm, apex ± obtuse and emarginate, base cuneate, entire, with numerous small rounded and lineolate black glands, especially 2 along the margin; lateral nerves 8–12 pairs; veinlets obscure. Umbels 3–5-flowered. Pedicel 1–2 mm, slightly angular. Calyx ca 1 mm, deeply split; lobes ovate, acute, ciliate, with scattered dark glandular dots and lines. Corolla greenish white, ca 2.5 mm, lobed to ¾ of its length; lobes elliptic, obtuse, papillose on margin, with dark rounded and lineolate glands. Staminodes inserted on base of corolla-lobes; anthers small, subsessile; ovary ovoid, glabrous, with an oblique and folded stigma. Fruit globose, ca 3 mm diam., dark blue when ripe, with elongate vertical glands.


Thailand : SOUTH-EASTERN: Chanthaburi; PENINSULAR: Surat Thani, Phuket, Satun, Narathiwat.


Distribution : West Malaysia (type).


Ecology : In beach forests, bordering open marshes and paddly fields at low altitudes. Flowering: January.


Vernacular : Rang kathae (รังกะแท้), prong nok (โปรงนก)(Southeastern); lam khao (ลามเขา)(Peninsular).
