Description : Tree, up to 20 m high. Leaves elliptic to oblong, 8–17 by 4–8 cm, glabrous; apex acute; base cuneate or rounded to cordate; margin undulate to smooth, 3-nerved at base; secondary nerves 6–8 pairs; scalariform distinct beneath; petioles 0.5–1 cm long, hairy. Inflorescence terminal and axillary, 5–10 cm long; flower buds globose, ± 4 mm diam. Sepals obovate. Petals elliptic to oblong, ± 2 by 1 mm. Stamens glabrous. Ovary ovoid, ± 2 by 1 mm, glabrous. Fruit globose or obovate, ± 1.5 by 1 cm; pericarp leathery, glabrous.
Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Lamphun, Phrae; SOUTH-EASTERN: Chanthaburi; SOUTH-WESTERN: Kanchanaburi; PENINSULAR: Chumphon, Ranong, Phangnga, Trang, Satun, Narathiwat, Pattani.
Distribution : India (type), Ceylon, Burma, China, Vietnam, Laos, Malay Peninsula, Indonesia.
Ecology : In mixed deciduous and dry evergreen forests, often by streams, 100–600 m alt. Flowering and fruiting: April–June.
