Description : Tree 4–15 m high. Leaflets 3 times as long as wide; petiolule 5–7 mm; elliptic or lanceolate, 4.5–18 by 1.5–6.5 cm, subcoriaceous when mature, paler beneath; base acute to cuneate; apex gradually acuminate with acute tip, up to 2.5 cm; nerves 9–20 pairs; prominent beneath, usually reddish or brown when dry; reticulations conspicuous. Petiole 5–10 cm. Flowers numerous, in terminal racemes. Pedicels 4–5 cm. Sepals ovate, 2–3.5 by 1.5–2 mm acute. Petals white turning yellow; blade suborbicular or elliptic, 2–3 by 1–2.5 cm, claw 0.5–1 cm. Stamens purple, filaments 3.5–6.5 cm. Gynophore 3.5–8 cm. Ovary ellip-soidal 0r cylindrical, 4–6 by 1–2 mm. Fruits ellipsoidal, 2–6 by 1.5–4.5 cm; pericarp roughish, whitish; stipe 8–13 cm long, 3–5 mm thick. Seeds 6–11 mm in diam., dull dark brown.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Mae Hong Son (Khun Yuam), Chiang Mai (Chiang Dao), Phrae (Huai Rai, Pang So), Phitsanulok (Thung Salaeng Luang); NORT-EASTERN: Loei (Phu Kradueng, Pha Nok Khao); EASTERN: Chaiyaphum (Khao Phaka Pho); CENTRAL: Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (Bangkok); SOUTH-EASTERN: Chon Buri (Si Racha, Sattahip), Chanthaburi (Pong Nam Ron); SOUTH-WESTERN: Uthai Thani (Huai Kha Khaeng), Kanchanaburi (Khwae Noi, Sangkhla Buri), Ratchaburi (Mae Klong River); PENINSULAR: Surat Thani (Khian Sa), Nakhon Si Thammarat (Ron Phibun, Chawang), Trang (Khao Chong), Satun, Narathiwat (Su-ngai Kolok).


Distribution : India (type), S China, Burma, Indochina, Malesia, Pacific Island.


Ecology : Common along rivers, in evergreen forests and mixed deciduous forests, 30–700 m alt. Flowering: December–April; fruiting: April–September.


Vernacular : Ro-tha (รอถะ)(Lawa-Northern); kum nam (กุ่มน้ำ)(Central); amphoe (อำเภอ)(Southwestern).
