Description : Low trees with pendulous branches; in Thailand mostly evergreen; young twigs puberulous, later glabrous. Leaves shortly petioled, linear lanceolate, upper surface glossy, lower glaucous; apex acute; margin finely serrate. Stipules caduceus, narrow lanceolate, serrate, revolute, up to 7 mm. Catkins short, dense-flowered, 2–4 cm long. Bracts ovate-elliptic, hairy only at base, 1–2 mm long. Stamens 2, connected at base, 4 mm long. Nectarial glands 2. Ovary nearly sessile, glabrous with 4-lobed stigma. Capsule sessile, narrow ovoid, 1.5–2.5 mm long.
Thailand : Commonly cultivated.
Distribution : Native of N China, now widespread.
Vernacular : Liu (หลิว), yang-liu (หยั่งลิ้ว)(Chinese-Central).
CommonName : Weeping Willow.
