Description : Tree up to ca 10 m. Leaves: rhachis 20–75 cm long, glabrous; leaflets oval to oblong–Ianceolate, 7–32 by 3–9 cm, acute to acuminate at the tip, cuneate to rounded at the base, glabrous, dark brown when dry; nerves ca 12 pairs, curved along the margin; petiolules 10–15 mm. Corymbs robust; 15–35 cm diam; branches thick, 3–10 mm, glabrous. Bracts ovate, 12–35 by 7–22 mm, fugacious; bracteoles oblong-lanceolate, 6–17 by 2–5 mm, fugacious. Pedicels ca 10 mm, included the part above the bracteoles 2–5 mm long. Receptacle 12–26 mm long. Sepals 4, oval, 5–10 by 3.5–5 mm, yellow. Stamens (3–)4(–6). Ovary stipitate, hairy. Pods 10–20 mm stipitate, oblong-lanceolate, 15-40 by 3.5–8 cm, curved at apex and base, up to 15 mm long beaked.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Mae Hong Son; PENINSULAR: Phuket, Trang, Narathiwat, Pattani.


Distribution : Southern part of Burma, Malay Peninsula (type), Java.


Ecology : In evergreen forests, mostly by streams. Flowering: January–April.


Vernacular : Sok lueang (โสกเหลือง)(Notthern, Peninsular); sok pa (โสกป่า), sok nam (โสกน้ำ), sok yai (โสกใหญ่)(Peninsular); mo-do-lo (มอดอเลาะ)(Malay-Peninsular).


Uses: Sometimes cultivated as an ornamental.
