Accepted Name : This is currently accepted.
Description : Small tree about 8 m high, 60 cm in girth. Leaves crowded, coriaceous, elliptic-lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, 3–7 by 0.4–0.5 cm, apex acute or mucronate. base cuneate; petiole very short ± 0.2 cm. Strobili yellow, cylindrical, 2–4.5 cm long, sessile, anther-scale triangular-ovate, acute or subacute. ♂ flowers solitary, axillary, receptacle ± 0.5 cm on a short stalk about 0.2 cm. Seeds elliptical, sometimes oblique, 9 by 7 mm with hard bony testa, red when mature.
Thailand : NORTH-EASTERN: Loei (Phu Luang).
Distribution : India, Burma, W Malesia (Malay Peninsula – type).
Ecology : In Thailand it is infrequently found in evergreen forests by streams on sandstone hills of about 800 m alt. This species often occurs elsewhere at low altitudes on granitic rocks along the seashores or along rivers and even in the mangrove swamps.
Vernacular : Son bai lek (สนใบเล็ก).
