Description : Shrub or small tree, 2–7 m high. Leaves coriaceous, elliptic tobroadly elliptic, 9–15 by 3–6.5 cm; apex acute or shortly acuminate; base cuneate, entire; margin elsewhere serrulate or subentire. Bracteoles 2–3, caducous. Sepals orbicular, 2–4 mm long. Petals white, about 11, connate below, oval or obovate, 1.2–3.5 cm long. Ovary glabrescent, 2–3 mm long.
Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Mai (Fang).
Distribution : SW China (Yunnan – type).
Ecology : In evergreen forests, at 1,400 m alt.
