Description : Stems glabrous, grooved with age. Stipules ovate, ca 3 by 1.5 mm, striate, apex acute, peltate, glabrous. Leaves: petioles 5.5–7.5 cm long, glabrous, pulvinus; rachis 0.8–1.5 cm long, glabrous. Leaflets chartaceous, upper surface glabrous or glabrescent, lower surface glabrous; lateral veins 4–7 pairs; terminal leaflet elliptic, 9.5–17.5 by 4.5–7.5 cm, apex acuminate, base obtuse or rounded; lateral leaflets obliquely ovate or obliquely ovate-lanceolate, 7.5–14.5 by 3.5–6.5 cm, apex acuminate, base truncate or rounded and oblique; petiolules 0.5–1.2 cm long, glabrous; stipels setaceous, ca 2 mm long, glabrous. Inflorescences 35–60-fascicled, nodose-pseudoracemes; node glabrous, 2–4 by 1–2.5 mm; peduncles 30–80 cm long, glabrous; axis 15–75 cm long, glabrous. Flowers 3–5 in each fascicle, bluish green; pedicels bluish purple, 2–4.5 mm long, glabrous; bracteoles 2, appressed to base of calyx tube, caducous. Calyx bluish purple, campanulate, 5-lobed; tube 1–1.2 by 0.8–1 cm, both sides glabrous, inside striate; lobes shallow obtuse or nearly truncate, ciliate along margin. Corolla bluish green with yellowish white claw, striate; standard ovate or elliptic, 4–4.5 by 1.5–2 cm, apex acute or obtuse, base with 2 auricles, suborbicular, ca 2 by 1.5–2 mm, margin inflexed, claw 3–4 mm long; wings obovate, 3–3.5 by 0.8–1 cm, apex acute, base with 2 small auricles, ca 1.5 mm long, claw ca 1.2 mm long; keel falcate, 5.5–6 by 1–1.2 cm, apex acute, margin entire, claw 1–1.2 cm long. Stamens: filaments white, 4.5–5 cm long; anthers yellow, oblong, ca 1.5 mm long. Pistil 5–5.5 cm long, sparsely pubescent; ovary light green, linear, base stipitate, ca 1 mm long; style white, glabrous; stigma light yellow, capitate. Pods subglobose or ovoid, 6–9.5 by 4.5–6.5 cm, rugose, glabrous, base shortly stipitate. Seeds 6–8, reddish brown or black, reniform, 3.5–4 by 1.5–2 cm.
Thailand : Cultivated.
Distribution : Native to the Philippines (Luzon – type) and cultivated elsewhere.
Vernacular : Phuang yok (พวงหยก).
Uses: Grown as an ornamental.
