Description : Rhizomatous herb 1.9–2.5 m tall with many fibrous roots; leafy shoot with 25–34 sprawling leaves. Leaf sheaths without blades on lower 65–90 cm of pseudostem; ligule bilobed, lobes 3–4 mm long; blades narrowly lanceolate, 30–40 by 6–8 cm, base cuneate or obtuse, apex acuminate or caudate, glabrous beneath; petiole 1–1.5 cm long. Inflorescences 2–4, radical; peduncle to 75 cm long, ascending; spike cylindrical, narrowly acute, bracts appressed; bracts lanceolate, ca 7 by 3 cm, acute or apiculate, yellowish orange; bracteoles to 3 cm long. Flower cream; labellum conspicuously trilobed, cream; anther crest cream. Fruit unknown.


Thailand : PENINSULAR: Pattani, Yala (Khao Pok Yok, Bannang Sata, Than To), Narathiwat (Chatwarin Falls, Su-ngai Padi, Waeng).


Distribution : Malaysia (Kedah – type).


Ecology : Lowland evergreen forests, 100–450 m alt. Flowering: July–August.
