Description : Tree to 6 m tall. Young branches subglabrous. Leaves papyraceous to subcoriaceous, (ovate- or obovate-) elliptic, 11–17.5 by 3.5–7 cm, base acute to obtuse, apex acute to acuminate, glabrous on both surfaces, margins not ciliate, secondary veins 10–12 pairs; petioles 4–8 mm long, subglabrous. Inflorescences on branches or trunk, 1–2-flowered, peduncles 2–4 mm long, pedicels (20–)30–60 mm long, very sparsely hairy. Flowers staminate or hermaphroditic on same or different plants. Sepals ovate, 2–4 by 2.5–3.5 mm. Outer petals white, elliptic, 7.5–11 by 5.5–8 mm. Inner petals purple or purplish green, clawed-rhombic, 9–18.5 by 5.5–9.5 mm, 1.6–2.5 mm thick, base of blade acute, subglabrous adaxially, claw 3–9 mm long; glands 2, ± square, greatly raised. Staminate flowers with 110–115 stamens. Hermaphroditic flowers with ca 2 stamens, ca 11 carpels; carpels 2.6–2.8 mm long; ovules ca 17. Fruit of 1–2 monocarps, peduncle 3.5–6 mm long, pedicel 26–36 mm long. Monocarps with colour unknown, ellipsoid, 2.5–3.4 by 1.7–2.7 cm, smooth, densely hairy, without apiculum, stipe 3.5–6 mm long. Seeds ca 17, 13–18.5 by 6–8.5 mm.

Distribution : Myanmar (type).
Ecology : Evergreen forests, over limestone, 100–700 m alt. Flowering: October–March; fruiting: February–March.
Vernacular : Sang yu dok yai (สังหยูดอกใหญ่).
