Description : Tree to 30 m tall; young shoots, leaf-rachis, inflorescences and calyces tawny velvety tomentose. Stipules small, caducous. Leaves with petioles 5–10 cm long; rachis 10–18 cm long. Leaflets 9–11, oblong, 3.5–10.5 by 1.5–3.5 cm, apex acute, base rounded to subcordate subcoriaceous, upper surface glabrous, lower surface glabrescent or downy along the midrib; lateral veins 8–10 pairs; petiolules ca 5 mm long. Inflorescences mostly terminal, paniculate, sometimes axillary, racemose; pedicels ca 8 mm long. Calyx ca 10 mm long; teeth ovate-acute, ± as long as tube. Corolla dull white; limb of standard rounded, ca 10 by 12 mm, emarginate, with 2 callus-like appendages on the inner side at base; claw ca 2 mm long; wings oblong-obtuse, ca 10 by 4 mm; keel oblong-falcate, ca 15 by 5 mm. Ovary hairy; ovules 4–5. Pods ellipsoid, 5–6 by 2.5–3 cm; valves thick, fleshy, coriaceous, yellow, becoming yellowish brown when dry, slightly hairy. Seeds 1 (–2), oblong, 30 by 15 mm (immature); testa bright red, wrinkled when dry.
