Description : Tree 20–25 m tall; young shoots, inflorescences and calyces puberulous. Stipules small, caducous. Leaves with petioles 6–7 cm long; rachis 12–25 cm long. Leaflets 7–13, ovate-lanceolate to oblong, 3–11.5 by 2–4 cm, apex long acuminate, base cuneate to rounded, coriaceous, glabrous on both surfaces; lateral veins 4–6 pairs; petiolules ca 5 mm long. Inflorescences axillary, racemose, 10–15 cm long; pedicels ca 6 mm long. Calyx ca 7 mm long; teeth oblong-acute, longer than tube. Corolla creamy white; limb of standard orbicular, ca 10 mm diam.; claw ca 6 mm long; wings oblong-obtuse, ca 13 by 3.5 mm; keel oblique, oblong-acute, ca 14 by 4 mm. Ovary glabrous; ovules 2. Pods oblique, broadly obovate, ca 8 by 5 cm; valves thick, woody, brown when dry. Seeds 1–2, broadly obovate or orbicular, ca 25 by 20 mm or 22 mm diam.; testa hard, scarlet not easily separable from the cotyledons.
Thailand : PENINSULAR: Ranong (Kamphuan – type: Kerr 16680 -BK BM C K L P), Phangnga (Khao Kratha Khwam, Si Phangnga NP).
Distribution : Peninsular Malaysia.
Ecology : Lowland tropical evergreen forests, near sea level to 100 m alt.
Vernacular : Krasae (กระแซะ)(Peninsular).
