Description : Subshrub, to 1 m tall; stem erect or prostrate, much branched; stem and branches with many-armed short stellate hairs. Leaves elliptic to rhomboid, oblong-lanceolate or obovate, rarely linear-lanceolate, 1–6 by 0.6–2.5 cm, base mostly acute, sometimes rounded, truncate or shortly cordate, apex obtuse or acute to acumnate, margin distally dentate, entire towards base, upper surface green, glabrescent to subglabrous, lower surface pale grey with short stellate hairs, leaves toward stem base not obovate retuse. Petiole 2–6 mm long, stellate puberulent, shortly pulvinulate at both ends. Stipules linear-lanceolate, 3–5 mm long, one-nerved, ciliate. Flower solitary, axillary. Peduncle 1–2.5 cm, densely whitish stellate tomentose, articulate above middle. Calyx campanulate, 4-6 mm in diam., 10-ribbed at base, abaxially stellate pubescent, 5-lobed, lobes triangular, ca 3 mm long, apex acute to acuminate, pubescent with short stellate and simple hairs on outer surface, glabrous on inner surface. Corolla yellow, ca 1 cm in diam. Petals yellow, obovate, ca 8 mm long, base oblique cuneate, apex rounded. Staminal column 3–5 mm long, hairy o glabrous, glabrescent. Ovary conical, ca 2 mm, minutely stellate hairy; style branches 8–10; stigma capitate. Schizocarp subglobose to broadly turbinate, 6–7 mm in diam.; mericarps 8–10, 2.5–3 mm long, flattened trigonous, rugose on side and back, apex with 2 short mucros or 2-awned, awns 1–3 mm long, divergent, glabrous or minute stellate hairy. Seed flattened reniform, ca 2 mm long, blackish.

Distribution : Throughout the tropics.


Ecology : Scrub, open slopes along roadsides, wasteland. Flowering and fruiting: December.


Uses: The entire plant is used medicinally.
