Description : Herb or subshrub to 1 m tall; stem terete, erect, plant viscid with many glandular hairs; stem, petiole and peduncle with minute stellate hairs, glandular hairs, and patent simple hairs. Leaves broadly ovate or orbicular, 3–6 by 2.5–4.5 cm, base cordate, apex acuminate, margin serrate to crenate, both surfaces with minute stellate hairs and viscid glandular hairs; basal veins 5–9. Petiole 1–3 cm long, pilose. Stipules filiform, ca 5 mm long. Flower in axillary or subterminal racemes or panicles, often on congested reduced axillary shoots. Peduncle slender, 0.2–0.6(–1.5) cm, articulated at or above middle. Calyx widely campanulate, 6–8 mm long, 4.5–5 mm in diam., sparsely minutely stellate hairy and glandular hairs; 5-lobed, lobes triangular, 2.5–3 by ca 2.5 mm, apex acute or acuminate. Corolla 1–1.2 cm in diam., slightly exceeding calyx. Petals obovate, ca 6 by 5 mm, apex emarginate or retuse, glabrous. Staminal column 3–4 mm long, pubescent with scattered simple hairs. Ovary subglobose, ca 1–2 mm long, yellowish green, glabrous; styles and stigmas 5. Schizocarp subglobose, 3–4 mm in diam.; mericarps 5, ca 2.5 mm long, tetrahedral with rounded angles, smooth, apex shortly hairy, without awns, apically bicuspidate with short hairs, enclosed in persistent calyx. Seed ovoid, slightly 3–angled, ca 2 mm long, glabrous, brown–black.

Distribution : India, Sri Lanka, China, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines.
Ecology : forests margins, gallery forests by streams, slopes, grassy roadsides, 250 m alt. Flowering and fruiting all year round.
