Description : Woody herb or Subshrub to 60 cm tall; usually low and strongly branched; branches prostrate or ascending, terete, green or purplish grey, stellate-tomentose to glabrescent. Leaves towards stem base always obovate, with retuse or emarginate apex, rarely truncate, upper leaves obovate to elliptic-lanceolate, obtuse or rounded at base, with rounded, subobtuse or acute apex, 0.5–5 by 0.5–4 cm, margin irregularly serrate-dentate or crenate in distal half, entire in proximal half, upper surface sparsely pubescent, with short many-armed stellate hairs, lower surface densely greyish tomentose with short many-armed stellate hairs. Petiole 2–8 mm long, stellate-pubescent; shortly pulvinate below the lamina. Stipules linear to subulate, 4–4.5 mm long, glabrescent. Flower solitary, axillary, sometimes in terminal clusters, with reduction of distal leaves. Peduncle longer than petiole, 3–5 mm long, to 2–3 cm in fruit, glabrous, articulated near middle. Calyx campanulate, 6–7 mm in diam., minutely stellate-hairy, inner surface glabrous; 5–lobed, lobes ovate to triangular, ca 2 mm long. Corolla ca 1.2 cm in diam., orange-yellow. Petals obliquely ovate, ca 8 by 6.5 mm, cuneate at apex, minutely hairy at base, otherwise glabrous. Staminal column 3–5 mm long, glabrous or minutely stellate-hairy. Ovary depressed globose, ca 2 mm in diam., glabrous; styles 7–10, 2.5–1.5 mm long, included in calyx; stigma capitate, creamy yellow. Schizocarp ca 4 mm long; mericarps 6–8, ca 2 mm high, included in calyx, reticulate or rugose on side and back, apex 2-awned, 1–2 mm long, or a pair of mucros. Seeds flattened reniform, ca 2 mm long, blackish, glabrous except puberulent hilum.


Thailand : PENINSULAR: Surat Thani (Kanchanadit).


Distribution : India, China, Taiwan, Vietnam.


Ecology : Along roadsides, disturbed areas. Flowering: July–December; fruiting: September–March.
