Description : Erect or ascending herbs; stem and branches terete, glabrous, nodes moderately pubescent. Leaves with petioles 4–5(–5.5) mm long, sparsely pubescent; lamina (2–)2.5–3 by 1.5–2(–2.5) cm, lyrate-pinnatifid, sparsely to moderately pubescent on upper surface, glabrous on lower surface, base runcinate, apex acuminate or acute, margin entire with hairs; secondary veins (6–)8–10(–12)-paired, primary vein and secondary veins with hairs on lower surface. Ocreae cylindrical, (6–)8–10 mm long, scarious, moderately pubescent, venation conspicuous, apex truncate and slightly oblique with sparse hairs, 0.5–1 mm long; auricles with hairs. Inflorescences terminal and axillary, capitate panicle, (4.5–)5–7.5 cm long, erect; inflorescence branches with glandular hairs; capitula (4–)6–8(–9) mm long, globose; leafy bracts (7–)15–20 by (4–)6–9 mm, glabrescent on both surfaces, ovate and amplexicaul, apex acute, margin with hairs. Flowers with hyaline bracteoles; ocreolae incompletely enclosing rachis, 4–5(–5.5) mm long, glabrous, apex acute or obtuse, margins entire without hispid hairs and bristles. Tepals 5, pinkish; lobes 1.5–2.5(–2.8) by 1–1.5 mm, pinkish, ovate, apex obtuse, without glandular dots, 3–5 veins present; tube 1–1.2 mm long, white, glandular nectaries 8. Stamens 8, anthers 0.2–0.4 mm long, oblong. Styles 3; stigmas capitate, white. Fruits with scarious perianth, triangular, 1.6–2 by 1.4–1.6 mm, shiny black.

Distribution : India, Nepal (type), Sikkim, Bhutan, Myanmar, China, Vietnam, Sumatra, Java, the Philippines.


Ecology : On rocks, 2,100–2,200 m alt.


Vernacular : Dok khao phot lueai (ดอกข้าวโพดเลื้อย).
