Description : Annual or biennial herb, 7–20 cm tall; stems erect, branches ending in inflorescences. Leaves sessile, spathulate or oblanceolate, 2–5 by 0.2–1 cm, apex obtuse, mucronate, base narrowed, clasping stems, margins entire, sometimes undulate, upper surfaces of leaves faintly arachnoid, lower surfaces of leaves densely arachnoid. Inflorescences narrowly paniculate. Capitula ca 4 mm diam. at flowering; involucres campanulate, ca 3 by 3 mm diam.; phyllaries 3-seriate, imbricate, outer ovate to oblong, inner ca 16, uniseriate, oblanceolate, ca 3 mm long, apex scarious; receptacle slightly convex, areolate, naked. Marginal florets many per capitulum; corollas filiform, ca 1.2 mm long. Disc florets ca 5–8 per capitulum; corollas campanulate, ca 2 mm long, basal tube ca 0.5 mm long, apex 5-lobed, glandular dotted. Achenes oblong, ca 0.3 mm long, glandular; pappus of fine capillary bristles, ca 1.3 mm long, white, setae falling separately.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Mae Hong Son (Pai), Chiang Mai (Doi Suthep, Om Koi, Pha Mon, Fang, Mae Tho), Chiang Rai (Ban Nong Lu, Mae Sai); NORTH-EASTERN: Khon Kaen (Pong Nip); EASTERN: Ubon Ratchathani (Phibun Mangsahan).


Distribution : Egypt, India (type), Nepal, Bhutan, China (Yunnan), Taiwan.


Ecology : Clayey soils in boggy swamps and sandy river banks, 250–1,200 m alt. Flowering: December–February.
