Description : Small shrub, 10–30 cm tall; stems more than 10 mm diam. Leaves with decurrent base; upper leaves spathulate, 1.5–3 by 4–12 mm, apex obtuse, both surfaces densely grey-tomentose; lower leaves cuneate, apex 3-fid, with very obtuse lobes. Inflorescences: peduncles 2–12 mm long; involucres cup-shaped, ca 3 by 4 mm diam.; phyllaries ca 3-seriate, imbricate, oblong, outer narrower than inner, 3–4 mm long, margins scarious, apex acute. Marginal florets female; corollas ca 1.3 mm long, greenish yellow or yellow, glands globose. Disc florets bisexual; corollas ca 1.8 mm long. Achenes ca 1 mm long, apex truncate; pappus scales triangular or lanceolate, 0.1–0.2 mm long, unequal.
Thailand : Cultivated.
Distribution : China (type), Taiwan, Japan (Kyushu, Ryukyu), the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia (Java).
Ecology : Cultivated as an ornamental plant in gardens.
Vernacular : Pak lan (ปากหลาน), ae nang (แอหนัง)(Bangkok); lao-nang-huai (เล่านั่งฮวย)(Chinese).
Uses: Ornamental and medicinal uses.
