Description : Epiphyte or shrub, evergreen, 2–3 m tall; stem and branches with distinct scars; young branches covered by reddish-brown hairs. Leaves in pseudowhorled of 3–7, obovate, obovate-elliptic, 6–8 by 2.8–4 cm; dark green and sparsely scaly above, with distant scales beneath; base cuneate or rounded; margin entire; apex (short-) acuminate; midrib grooved above, prominent beneath, veins 8–10 on each side of midrib; petioles 0.8–1 cm, grooved, reddish-green, scaly, without hairs. Inflorescences subumbelliform, 2–5-flowered; floral buds ovoid, ca 2 cm long, composed of ovoid bracts, ciliate outside, with brown scales in the middle. Flowers pale green when young, then white, fragrant; pedicels 8–12 mm long, scaly. Calyx disc-shaped; 5-lobed, unequal, 7–12 mm long, green scaly, ciliate with few setose hairs. Corolla funnel-shaped, 7–10 cm long; tube 3.4–4.5 cm, 5-lobed; lobes rounded, 4–4.5 by 4 cm, undulate, with yellow or greenish-yellow spots forming a patch. Stamens 10, unequal, 5–7 cm; filaments white, hairy in the lower half; anthers 4–5 mm long, pale brown. Ovary ovoid, 5-lobed, densely scaly, 5–7 by 3–4 mm; styles 7–8.3 cm long, scaly at the base; stigma capitate. Capsules ovoid-oblong, 3–4 by 1–1.2 cm, scaly, rough. Seeds small.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Mai (Doi Suthep, Doi Inthanon, Khun Mae Lan, Doi Khun Huai Pong); SOUTH-WESTERN: Kanchanaburi (Khao Ri Yai).


Distribution : Myanmar (type), Laos.


Ecology : In montane forests, on mossy ground, 1,600–2,500 m alt. Flowering: January–April.


Vernacular : Kayom (กายอม)(Chiang Mai).
