Description : Shrub or small tree, evergreen, 2–15 m tall; branches glabrous. Leaves in pseudowhorled of 3–6, elliptic, oblanceolate or oblong-elliptic, rarely obovate, 7–16 by 2–6 cm, glabrous; base cuneate; margin entire and slightly revolute, sometimes ciliate especially when young; apex acuminate; midrib grooved above, prominent beneath; veins 9–14 on each side of midrib, anastomosing; petiole 0.7–2 cm long, grooved above, usually glabrous or ciliate when young. Inflorescence (sub)terminal umbelliform; 3–5-flowered; floral buds narrowly ovoid, 10–25 by 8 mm composed of small ovate bracts, ciliate. Flowers white, slightly fragrant; pedicels 1.6–2.5 cm, glabrous. Calyx 5-lobed, narrowly to broadly triangular, 1–1.5 mm long, apex acute to rounded. Corolla funnel-shaped 3.5–5 cm long; tube 1–2.2 cm long; 5-lobed, lobes elliptic-oblong, 1.8–3 by 1–1.8 cm, apex broadly acute to rounded, subentire to slightly undulate, with dense yellow spots forming a patch, glabrous. Stamens 10, subequal; filaments 2.5–3.5 cm long, white, hairy in the lower half though glabrous at the very base; anthers shortly oblong 2–2.5 by 1 mm, yellow. Ovary cylindrical, 3–4 by 5–6 mm, glabrous, 5–6-lobed; styles 3.0–4.8 cm long, glabrous; stigma capitate, 2.5–3 mm in diam. Capsules cylindrical, 2–4 by 0.5–0.6 cm, 5–6 ridged. Seeds oblong, ca 2 mm long.
Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Mai (Doi Inthanon, Doi Suthep, Doi Lang Ka, Pang Tong, San Kamphang, Doi Pha Hom Pok, Mae Klang, Doi Mon Chong), Nan (Doi Phu Kha); EASTERN: Nakhorn Ratchasima (Khao Yai); PENINSULAR: Nakhon Si Thammarat (Na Bon).
Distribution : China, Myanmar (type), Cambodia, Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia.
Ecology : Scattered in montane forests and open areas at 950–2,200 m alt. Flowering: October–May.
Vernacular : Kulap pa (กุหลาบป่า), kulap khao (กุหลาบขาว), khao wang sai (ขาววังไทร); kham khao (คำขาว)(Chiang Mai).
