Description : Plant epiphytic or lithophytic. Pseudobulbs ascending to erect, subcylindric, 2–12 by 1–1.5 cm, base enclosed by sheaths when young, usually longitudinally and shallowly grooved when mature. Foliage leaves 2 per pseudobulb, arising from pseudobulb apex, ovate to oblong lanceolate, 5–15 by 2.5–5 cm, apex acute, obtuse or acuminate, base cuneate, lamina glossy green, coriaceous; petiole 0.5–1.5 cm long. Inflorescence synanthous, to 12 cm long; peduncle 1.5–4 cm long; rachis straight or zig-zag, laxly to subdensely 8- to many-flowered; floral bracts ovate, oblong or orbicular, 5–12 by 3–10 mm, acute to rounded, caducous. Flowers white, sometimes with pale yellow patch at base of labellum mid-lobe; pedicel and ovary 2–8 mm long. Sepals subsimilar; dorsal sepal ovate to ovate-oblong, 4–8 by 2–5 mm, obtuse to rounded, 3- to 5-nerved; lateral sepals ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 4–9 by 1.5–4.5 mm, acute to acuminate, 3-nerved. Petals ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 4–7 by 1.5–4 mm, obtuse, acute or acuminate, 3-nerved. Labellum obscurely 3-lobed, constricted at the middle, 4–8 mm long, boat-shaped and ornamented by 5 keels at base; mid-lobe 2-lobulate, base with yellow patch, each lobule rounded, recurved; side lobes obscure, not drawn out into true lobes, edges more or less laterally recurved. Column shortly clavate, 1.5–5 mm long, hooded, top margin irregular dentate, with more or less conspicuous lateral lobes; rostellum triangular. Fruit obovoid-ellipsoid, 1–2 by 0.6–1 cm, ridged.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Tak, Phitsanulok; NORTH-EASTERN: Phetchabun, Loei; EASTERN: Nakhon Ratchasima; SOUTH-WESTERN: Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi; CENTRAL: Nakhon Nayok; SOUTH-EASTERN: Chanthaburi, Trat; PENINSULAR: Ranong, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat.


Distribution : India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh (type), Myanmar, S China, Indo China, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Sumatra.


Ecology : Tropical evergreen forests, hill evergreen forests, 100–1,750 m alt. Flowering: May–September.


Vernacular : Ueang lam to (เอื้องลำต่อ).
