Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Mai (Doi Inthanon – Seidenfaden & Smitinand GT 8293 -C).
Distribution : Vietnam (type).
Ecology : Hill evergreen forests; ca 1,650 m alt. Flowering: unrecorded in the wild, April–May in cultivation.
Notes: This species is newly recorded for Thailand. A live plant was collected on Doi Inthanon in 1978, but it was not until its second recorded flowering in the Botanical Garden of Copenhagen (in 2014) that it was identified as Coelogyne lawrenceana. It should be noted that an individual of this species cultivated in Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, without locality data, may also be of Thai provenance; a sample of the latter plant has been preserved as Nanakorn et al. 17575 -QBG!.
