Description : Pseudobulbs 4.8–5.8 cm long, 0.6–0.9 cm in diameter. Leaves: petiole 7–12.4 cm long; lamina (elliptic-)lanceolate, acuminate, 12.8–29.6 by 4.4–8.8 cm. Inflorescence 27–53(–75) cm tall, 12- to many-flowered; rachis 4.5–19 cm long; bracts (ovate-)lanceolate, acute to acuminate, 5.8–14.3 mm long, glabrous. Flowers yellowish-green with white to yellow labellum and column (sepals and petals often maroon-dotted, labellum often with purple markings). Sepals: dorsal sepal linear-lanceolate, 10.9–17.6 by 3.3–4.8 mm; lateral sepals falcately (linear-)lanceolate, 9.3–15.2 by 3–5 mm. Petals falcately (ovate-)lanceolate, 9.7–15.4 by 4.8–6 mm. Labellum abruptly recurved at the middle, glabrous, 8.5–11 mm long, 6.8–10.4 mm wide across side lobes when flattened, ornamented by a low median keel and 2 lateral (partly higher and undulate) keels, all entire and extending from (near) the labellum base onto the mid-lobe; side lobes erect, obliquely triangular to falcately oblong, 2.1–4.3 mm wide; mid-lobe boat-shaped, broadly oblong to transversely elliptic when flattened, 4–7.9 mm wide. Column 6–6.7 mm long, with the front margins forming lateral wings, each of which has an obliquely triangular to oblong or hook-like process; column foot 1.5–2.3 mm long, with a broadly conical, rounded, 0.5–1.6 mm long spur; anther ovate in upper view, acuminate in front; stigma with entire margins. Ovary (including pedicel) 6.5–12 mm long. Capsule pendent, fusiform-terete, furrowed, 21–26 mm long, 4–6 mm in diameter.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok; NORTH-EASTERN: Loei; EASTERN: Nakhon Ratchasima (Khao Yai); SOUTH-WESTERN: Prachuap Khiri Khan (Huai Yang); CENTRAL: Nakhon Nayok (Khao Yai); PENINSULAR: Ranong (Khao Phota Chongdong), Nakhon Si Thammarat (Khao Luang), Trang (Huai Yot).


Distribution : Sri Lanka, E & NE India, Nepal, S China (Yunnan, Guangxi, Hainan), Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java (type), Borneo, the Philippines, Sulawesi, New Guinea, SW Pacific Islands (east to Samoa).


Ecology : Terrestrial in hill evergreen forests, freshwater swamp forests, seasonal evergreen forests and bamboo thickets; 700–1,750 m alt. Flowering: mainly May–August, but also recorded in January, March, April, September and October.


Vernacular : Ueang linlai (เอื้องลิ้นลาย).
