Description : Tree, up to 40 m high; bark brown or greyish-brown. Leaves elliptic or oblong, 12–24 by 3–7 cm, apex acuminate, base oblique, obtuse, rounded or acute, thickly coriaceous, stiff, upper surface glossy, lower surface opaque, midrib grooved, lateral nerves 13–20 per side, arched at tips, venation reticulate, purplish, prominent below; petioles terete, grooved, 2–2.5 cm long, with a gland near the apex. Panicles terminal, lax, 12–14 cm long, rusty tomentose or puberulous. Flowers densely hairy with large bract. Drupes ellipsoid, 2–3 by 2 cm, with thin annular thickening, brown with rusty scurfy tomentum; mesocarp with black resin; stalks 1 cm long, obconically, thickened and longitudinally plicate above articulation, puberulous. Seed oblong.

Distribution : Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra.
Ecology : Scattered in peat swamp forests. Fruiting: May.
Vernacular : Rak (รัก)(Narathiwat).
