Description : Stems many-branched, 20–70 cm, glabrous. Leaves opposite or 3–4-whorled, oblanceolate to oblong-obovate, 0.5–3.5 by 0.2–1.5 cm, acute at apex, attenuate to petioles, 0.5–1 cm, coarsely acute-serrate, glabrous above, gland-dotted beneath. Flowers 1–4-fasciculate in leaf-axils; pedicels 3–7 mm, glabrous. Calyx 4-lobed almost to the base, 1.5 mm long in flower, 2.5 mm long in fruit; lobes oblong-ovate, subacute, ciliate on margin. Corolla white, 3 mm long, 6–7 mm across, throat with dense long white hairs, deeply 4-lobed; lobes oblong, obtuse. Capsule globose, 2.5 mm long and wide. Seeds 0.5–0.6 by 0.3–0.4 mm.
Thailand : All over the country.
Distribution : A native of tropical America, naturalized throughout the tropics.
Ecology : A common weed, on waste ground, dry deciduous forests, on dried up rice-fields, on sandy river banks, up to 400 m alt.
Vernacular : Mafai duean ha (มะไฟเดือนห้า)(Central); kratai cham yai (กระต่ายจามใหญ่)(Southeastern); ya nuat maeo (หญ้าหนวดแมว), ya chat tut (หญ้าจ้าดตุ้ด), ya khat hin (หญ้าขัดหิน), yu kwat mae mai (ยูกวาดแม่หม้าย)(Northern); ya khat (หญ้าขัด)(Southwestern).
