Description : Deciduous tree up to 40(–50) m high; young branches puberulous. Leaves 3–4-jugate. Petioles 3 cm long. Leaflets coriaceous, oblong to obovate, often slightly falcate, 5–10 by 3–5 cm; base unequal-sided, apex acute; shining on both surfaces, glabrous except for the midrib on the lower surface. Inflorescence densely brownish pubescent, 20–30 cm long. Bracts early caducous; bracteoles lanceolate, acute, 2 mm long. Pedicels puberulous, 1.5–2 mm. Receptacle 1.5–3 mm long. Sepals unarmed, strigose inside, 6–7 mm long. Petal yellow to red, narrowly lanceolate, 6–7 mm long. Stamens 2 largest, with filaments ca 1 cm long, anthers 2–3 mm long. Ovary shortly stipitate, hirsute; style recurved, glabrous; stigma inconspicuous; ovules 4–5. Pods glabrous, unarmed or with scattered blunt spines, broadly oblong, beaked, 7–8 by 5–6 cm. Seeds 2–3.


Thailand : PENINSULAR: Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat (Waeng), Trang.


Distribution : Malay Peninsula (type), Sumatra, Borneo.


Ecology : Evergreen forests, lower altitudes.


Vernacular : Ai kling (อ้ายกลิ้ง), kling (กลิ้ง), kha man (ค่ามัน)(Peninsular).


Uses: Wood used for indoor construction.
