Description : Twigs glabrous. Leaves glabrous, ca elliptic, 7–15 by 3–5 cm, base attenuate, apex acuminate; nerves 6–9 pairs, meeting in a looped intramarginal vein at a distance of 0.5–0.25 from the margin; reticulation coarse, quite obscure; petiole 7–12 mm. Inflorescence a basally branched raceme to 4 cm; axis puberulous; bracts and bracteoles caducous or the bracteoles persistent, puberulous, 0.5–1 mm: pedicels puberulous, to 1.5, or sometimes to 3 mm in the lowermost flower. Calyx glabrous, nearly wholly divided in the ca 0.5 mm long lobes. Corolla (? 3–)5 mm. Stamens ca 50. Disk 5-glandular, the broadly conical style-base shortly pilose. Ovary glabrous, 0.5–1 mm high; style glabrous or minutely hairy towards the base. Fruit ovoid, ca 9 by 6 mm; stone lengthwise ribbed. Seed 1, much lobed, embryo falcate.

Distribution : India (type), Burma.


Ecology : In tropical evergreen forests, 100–1,000 m alt.
