Description : Small tree, 6–8 m tall. Leaves thin coriaceous, obovate-elliptic, 24–32 by 10–12 cm; apex broadly acute or obtuse; base cuneate; lateral veins 12–18 pairs, slightly raised below; glabrescent on both surfaces; midrib thinly villous; margin flat or wavy; petiole 2.5–3.5 cm long, pulvinate at the base. Flower-buds ovoid, 4.5–5 by 3–3.2 cm; spathaceous bract verrucose and scattered with brown hairs; peduncle stout, 2.5–4 cm long. Tepals white. Stamens 1.2–1.5 cm long. Gynoecium ellipsoid, 1.8–2 by 1–1.2 cm; carpels numerous (80–100), densely covered with short, brownish hairs, or glabrous. Fruiting carpels in an ellipsoid or broad ovoid mass, 8–10 by 5.5–7.5 cm, eventually disintegrating; individual carpels narrowly rhomboid, 2.5–4 cm long, lenticellate.
Thailand : PENINSULAR: Yala (Betong – type, Bannang Sata).
Distribution : Malay Peninsula (Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Trengganu).
Ecology : In tropical evergreen forests, at low altitudes (300–450 m).
Vernacular : Leng keng (เล็งเก็ง).
