Description : Small to medium-sized tree, 8–15 m tall. Leaves thin-coriaceous, oblong-oblanceolate, narrowly elliptic to elliptic, 18–30 by 5.5–8(–10.5) cm; apex obtuse or rounded; base cuneate or obtuse; lateral veins 10–16 pairs, slightly impressed beneath; glabrous on both surfaces except the midrib which is scattered hairy; petiole 2.5–4.5 cm long, glabrous, pulvinate at the base. Flower-buds ovoid, 3.5–4 by 2–2.5 cm; spathaceous bracts very thick, hairy and verrucose externally. Tepals creamy white, rather thick outer ones 3.5–5 by 1–1.5 cm; inner ones smaller and narrower. Gynoecium top-shaped; carpels 7–17, ovoid, beaked, glabrous. Fruiting carpels in an ovoid mass, 6–7 by 4–4.5 cm; seeds pinkish.
Thailand : SOUTH-EASTERN: Chanthaburi (Pong Namron) Trat (Dan Chumphon – type, Khao Kuap); SOUTH-WESTERN: Kanchanaburi (Sai Yok, Klang Dong).
Distribution : Endemic to Thailand.
Ecology : In tropical evergreen forests, at low altitudes (50–800 m), often by streams, also on limestone hills.
Vernacular : Yihup pri (ยี่หุบปรี)(Chong-Southeastern).
