Description : A medium-sized tree, bark brownish, smooth, defoliating inlongitudinal scrolls Leaves 2–5 by 0.2–0.4 cm, glossy green above, white beneath; apex acute; base rounded truncate or partly subcordate. Seed ellipsoid, ± 1.2 by 2.5 cm, with a short apical point and attenuate towards the base.
Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai; NORTH-EASTERN: Loei.
Distribution : India (type), Burma.
Ecology : In the lower montane forests, 1,000–1,800 m alt.
Vernacular : Makham pom dong (มะขามป้อมดง).
Uses: Wood used for furniture, but rarely so in Thailand owing to the inaccessibility of its habitat.
