Description : Sarmentose shrub with straight prickles and sometimes glandular hairs. Leaflets 7–11, elliptic or oblong, 1–2.5 b 0.5–1 cm, apex acute, finely serrate, glabrous on both surfaces or villous and glandular on the lower one. Stipules adnate only to the base of the petiole, villous, pectinate-laciniate. Flowers solitary or 2–3 terminal, 4–5 cm across. Pedicel short (3–10 mm). Bracts pectinate-laciniate, tomentose. Calyx lobes lanceolate, acuminate, entire, deciduous. Petals white. Styles free, slightly exserted. Fruit globose, ± 20 mm, tomentose.


Thailand : NORTHERN: Chiang Rai (Chiang Kham); NORTH-EASTERN: Nakhon Phanom; EASTERN: Ubon Ratchathani.


Distribution : India (Bengal), Burma, Laos. Originally described from a plant cultivated in Paris.


Ecology : Near streams, 200–400 m alt. Flowering: February–March.


Vernacular : Nam kai hai (หนามไก่ให้)(Northern); khontha nam (คนทาน้ำ)(Northeastern).
