Description : Sarmentose shrub or liana. Branches dark brown, covered with small, declinate prickles. Leaves simple, ovate-lanceolate, 12 by 5 cm, rounded at the base, acuminate at the apex, irregularly dentate, glabrous on both face; nerves 10–12 pairs, arcuate. Petiole short (1 cm). Stipules joined to the stem, pinnatifid, caducous. Flowers 1–1.5 cm across, arranged in terminal panicles ca 25 cm. long. Pedicle 0.5–1 cm. Bracts and bracteoles divided. Calyx hirsute; lobes lanceolate, acuminate, dentate, white-tomentose inside and on the margins. Petals white, dentate. Stamens numerous. Carpels 5–10. Styles filiform; stigma bifid. Fruit reddish. Stones rugose.
Thailand : NORTHERN: Nan (Huai Kua).
Distribution : India, Laos, Vietnam, China, Indonesia (Java – type), the Philippines.
Ecology : In mountainous country, 1,000–2,000 m alt.
Uses: Fruit edible.
