Description : Small tree up to ca 7 m tall. Leaves elliptic to narrow-elliptic, or obovate-oblong, 6–13 by 2.5–6 cm, obtuse, base cuneate; petiole 1–1.5 cm. Stipules 2 cm long. Pedicels 2–3 mm. Bracteoles 2–4, connate. Flowers white, 1.5–2 cm long. Calyx 1–1.5 cm long, lobes linear, reflexed after anthesis. Petals ca 14 mm long. Stamens 8–13 mm. Fruits ovoid, 1.5–2.5 cm long. Hypocotyl clavate, 15–40 cm long, terete.

Distribution : S & SE Asia (type), Malesia.


Ecology : Mangrove forests.


Vernacular : Rang kathae (รังกะแท้), thua nang choi (ถั่วนางช้อย).


Uses: Wood for temporary construction. fire-wood, and charcoal.
